The Roar of the Lions

On 3 to 5 August, the Arena of Stars at Genting - City of Entertainment reverberated with the sounds of cymbals clashing, the metallic thumping of gongs and the thundering of Chinese drums as 27 teams from around the world participated at the 50 Years of Nationhood World Lion Dance Invitation tournament.

Held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia’s independence, the Lion Dance Invitation tournament was Genting - City of Entertainment’s unique contribution to the celebration. Organised by Resorts World Bhd with the consultancy of Mr. Leong Lik Thong - the chairman of the Federation of Selangor & Federal Territory Dragon & Lion Dance Association, the three-day extravaganza of acrobatic skill and breathtaking stunts was a treat to the thousands of spectators who turned up to witness the spectacle.

It was a gallant effort by all and at the end of the day, the top three teams were the Kung Seng Keng team, the Goh Chor team and the Guandong Guangning Wushu team. Further drama was added by the fact that the gap between the first placed Kung Seng Keng and second placed.
