Paul Anka - Doing Things His Way

The airwaves in 1957 were filled with this song about love between a younger man and an older woman. Even today, Diana remains timeless and ageless. Its theme rings as true in modern times as they did back decades ago. One cannot but hear the singer’s youthful naiveté in his almost nonchalant dismissal of societal scorn of a relationship between an older and younger person. Nor is it possible to deny the romanticism in the lyrics that reflect the famous Latin maxim, “Amor Vincit Omnia" - Love Conquers All.

Paul Anka's music career earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, as well as being coffered the title of Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters by France.

The ultimate honour came about in 2005 when he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada, Canada's highest civilian award. A remarkable achievement from a boy from Ottawa made good.
