The Royal Vintage of Italy - Barolo

Defined as the ‘king of wines’ and ‘the wine of kings’, the Barolo wines are produced from the Nebbiolo grapes, near the town of Alba, in Italy’s Piedmont region.

This variety of grape has small tapering leaves that are bright green in colour, the canes are of a rosy hue and have three long gaps between the nodes. The grapes have an unusual characteristic: each grape never contains more than three seeds.

It is truly one of the world’s best red wines and is an example of a wine that gets better and better with age. The Barolo is garnet red with orangish reflections, dry, full, hardy and austere with an aroma that suggests tar, violets, roses, ripe strawberries and truffles. It is often described as a chewy wine and has been paid homage to for countless times.
